Mykola Kravchuk, Head of the SE “Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority”, held a meeting with the Logistics Committee of the European Business Association, during which the parties discussed key challenges and priority initiatives aimed at ensuring the stable operation of Ukraine’s port infrastructure.
The primary issue for the sector remains navigational safety and the protection of port infrastructure. Another matter of critical importance for both USPA and port operators is the uninterrupted energy supply of Ukrainian ports.
The parties also devoted additional attention to legislative initiatives. In particular, USPA confirmed its support for the draft Procedure for Compensation of Investments in Port Infrastructure, which was jointly developed by member companies of the Association’s Logistics Committee together with the Ministry for Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine.
The meeting also addressed prospects for resuming operations at the ports of Mykolaiv Region. USPA noted that it remains in constant communication with the military and the regional leadership. The resumption of port operations will be possible only after security issues are resolved and subject to approval by the military command.
The Head of USPA outlined the main priorities, including digitalisation, resumption of the Supervisory Board’s work and increasing cargo throughput. Structural optimisation of the enterprise was also discussed, including plans to establish a single Danube branch.
A separate part of the discussion focused on preparations for the autumn-winter period. This year, approximately UAH 70 million has been allocated to provide enterprises with additional power generation capacity.
Among other topics, the parties also discussed the initiative to create industrial parks. USPA generally supports this idea as an instrument for attracting new business entities and increasing cargo flows.
We thank all participants for the constructive dialogue and joint efforts towards the development of Ukraine’s maritime sector.
